Scouting: Skills for Life

Scouting is more than uniforms, badges and weekly meetings. It is providing a space for young people to develop, grow and learn the skills that come in handy throughout life such as problem-solving, team working, being responsible and looking out for others and the wider world around them.

About Us

Who we are?

We are a Scout Group based just off Marsland Road, Sale providing Scouting for young people between the ages of 4 and 14.5 since 1938. A dozen or so adults contribute their time and effort to run the group, its three sections and the hundred or so young people we see on a weekly basis.

Our Four Sections

Squirrels
Age: 4-6
When: Tuesdays
Time: 17:45 – 18:45

Our newest and youngest section!

Squirrels is a brand new section coming to 14th Sale! An hour a week to bring Scouting to an even younger cohort of young people to let them embrace the adventure, fun, and achievement that Scouting offers for millions worldwide!

Cubs
Age: 8-10
When: Wednesdays
Time: 18:30 – 20:00

Now into Cubs and our young people start to gain their independence and personalities! Excitement and adventure are key.

The programme offers a huge variety of activities surrounding areas of fitness, global and beliefs; whilst allowing them to be creative and get involved in their local communities.

Cubs are introduced to exciting outdoor skills and take part in adventurous activities, as well as camps and residential experiences.

Beavers
Age: 6-8
When: Thursdays
Time: 18:15 – 19:30

Our loudest section (probably!)

Beavers supplements the development the young people make in school and maybe teaches a few different things as well and we are certainly not a school either!

They enjoy all that Scouting has to offer; being introduced to outdoor activities, having the opportunity to be creative, explore their local community and experience the excitement of a Beaver Scout sleepover with their friends!

Scouts
Age: 10-14.5
When: Tuesdays
Time: 19:30 – 21:00

Scouts aim to build and develop young people’s confidence, sense of adventure and outdoor skills, as well as encouraging them to explore their beliefs and attitudes and be creative.

It offers them the independence to put these skills into practice at camps and even on international trips.

Scouts are encouraged to work together and take the lead on all sorts of projects, from community-based work to planning games and activities for their meetings.

Want to help out?

Volunteering with Scouts is ultimately flexible on the amount of time you can give. You tell us what you would like to do and how much time you can give and we will find something for you.

It doesn’t have to be helping out a weekly meeting. It could be sitting on our Committee which meets once a month, or helping provide activities at a day or weekend event.

We work around you, so what reason do you have not to get in touch?
