Chill Out Camp was…chilled!

Leaders made a strange request of the Scouts for this camp: bring your slippers! Yes, you read that right! Whilst the Scouts took part in some outdoor activities (including a photo-hike), many of the activities took place indoors so slippers were the must-have piece of kit to take!

Being indoors gave the Scouts many opportunities to practise a range of skills to earn some more of their badges. They worked on their Chef’s badge, including cleaning up after preparing a meal. They also created a balanced menu for a weekend event. They all practised clearning the dishes, wiping down the tables, and hoovering up. All much-desired skills!

The Scouts then took a hike around the beautiful grounds of Dunham, but were given a task: they had to create a Nature Alphabet. The Scouts were all given a pair of letters to look for whilst on their walk, and then take a photo of them. A movie was then produced after the walk.

The Scouts also practised their firelighting skills – well it wouldn’t be a Scout camp without fire! They had a go and roasting a number of crispy snacks – with Salt and Vinegar twirls coming out as favourite!

It was another great weekend, if only just to give the Scouts chance to hang out with their friends, and well, just chill!
